Aztec Home Improvements is owner-operated out of Bear, Delaware — small enough that Leo is on your job site, large enough to run every trade in-house.
Aztec Home Improvements was started in 2022 by Leonel "Leo" Tapia, a hands-on contractor who'd spent years working other people's remodels and kept hearing the same complaint: crews that vanish for weeks, subcontractors nobody can reach, and projects that drag on long past the promised date.
So Leo built Aztec around the opposite promise — a single crew that handles carpentry, tile, concrete, and finish work themselves, shows up on the schedule they give you, and stays in contact until the last item on the punch list is checked off. Today that crew is listed with the Better Business Bureau and the Delaware Contractor Registry, and carries a 4.8-star rating built almost entirely on repeat and referral business across New Castle County.
Three commitments Leo built the company around — not marketing lines, just how jobs get run.
Schedules are given up front and kept — clients specifically call out crews arriving on time, every day, for the full length of the job.
Framing, tile, electrical coordination, and finish carpentry are handled by the same team, so nothing falls through the cracks between subs.
Leo reviews layouts before demo starts and flags better options where he sees them — clients regularly mention suggestions that improved the final result.

A real sequence, so it's numbered like one — this is the order every project follows.
Leo walks the space with you, talks through what's possible, and gives you a straight, no-pressure number.
You get a written scope of work and a start date before any demo begins — the same schedule we hold to for the whole job.
Our crew — not rotating subs — works the site daily until it's done, with regular updates along the way.
We walk the finished space with you, fix anything on the list on the spot, and don't call it done until you do.
Every service below is performed by Aztec's own crew — no subcontractor hand-offs, no lost communication between trades.
Whether it's a full gut-and-rebuild or a focused refresh — new cabinets, an island, updated counters — we plan the layout around how your household actually cooks and gathers, then build it with the same crew from demo to final hardware.
From tub-to-shower conversions to full master bath rebuilds, we handle tile, waterproofing, plumbing, and electrical to a standard that holds up — the kind of finish clients describe as "hotel-suite quality."
Multi-level decks, pool surrounds, pergolas, and railing systems, engineered to handle Delaware's freeze-thaw seasons and built for years of actual use, not just a good first photo.
Driveways, walkways, patios, and foundation repair — formed, poured, and finished level, with proper drainage so it stays that way through Delaware winters.
Hardwood, luxury vinyl plank, tile, and carpet — supplied and installed with proper subfloor prep and clean room-to-room transitions.
From water-damage remediation to a fully finished living level — framing, insulation, egress windows, and moisture control, done to code and built to stay dry.
From a small bump-out to a full room addition, we handle the framing, exterior tie-in, and finish work to match your home's existing lines — inside and out.
A closer look at recent work — what the scope was, how long it took, and what clients said when it was done.
A basement suffered significant brown-water damage and needed a full rebuild — demolition, drying and moisture treatment, new framing, insulation, and finish carpentry. The crew worked the site for nine consecutive weeks and, per the homeowner, "showed up on time every single day," including during short scheduled breaks that were communicated in advance.
A new multi-level backyard deck built alongside the installation of a mid-size above-ground pool, with a full surrounding deck for entry steps, seating, and shade. The homeowner described the finished result as turning out "even better than" they had pictured going in.
A complete master bath remodel, completed in April 2026. The homeowner credited "expert craftsmanship, professionalism, and value," noting that Leo made suggestions during planning that improved the functionality of the space beyond what was originally scoped.
Smaller-scope work handled the same way — same crew, same schedule discipline.
Full tear-out and repour of a residential driveway and connecting walkway, including grading and drainage correction.
A small home addition matched to the existing roofline and siding, framed and finished by the same crew end to end.
Luxury vinyl plank installed throughout the main level, including subfloor leveling and transition detailing at every doorway.
Cabinet replacement, new countertops, and updated lighting — a full kitchen refresh without a change to the existing footprint.
