WordPress Development for Australian Businesses

Australia is where TidWeb has done more repeat work than anywhere outside Pakistan. Three Melbourne businesses — JB Complete Pool Care, Total Pets and Motorcycle Auctions Melbourne — are live sites we designed and built, and all three left written reviews you can read on our work page.

We are a small senior team working remotely from Pakistan. For Australian clients that turns out to be an unusually good arrangement, because the time difference runs in the right direction: our morning is your afternoon, so a question asked at the end of your day is answered before you finish it.

What we build for Australian businesses

Everything is WordPress with Elementor Pro. You can edit your own copy, prices and images after handover without paying anyone to change a paragraph, and you own the licences and assets outright.

  • Trades and local service sites — pool care, landscaping, building, mobile services. Built around quote requests and phone calls, with service-area pages that actually rank.
  • WooCommerce stores — Stripe, PayPal and Afterpay, Australia Post and courier shipping rules, GST handling, stock management your staff can run.
  • One-page and campaign sites — fast, focused builds for businesses that need presence and a lead form rather than fifteen pages.
  • Redesigns, speed work and recoveries — including sites where a previous developer has disappeared and still controls the hosting.

The time difference works in your favour

Pakistan is UTC+5 with no daylight saving. Melbourne, Sydney and Canberra run at UTC+10 in winter and UTC+11 during daylight saving, which puts you five to six hours ahead of us. Brisbane stays at UTC+10 year round; Perth is UTC+8, only three hours ahead.

In practice: our 9am is your 2pm or 3pm on the east coast. Our working day from 9am to 6pm covers your entire afternoon and evening, which means the overlap sits at the end of your day rather than the start of it.

That is a genuinely useful rhythm. You review the site over your morning, send comments through in the afternoon, and we are online and working on them within your business hours — often before you go home. For Perth clients the overlap is even better, covering most of a standard working day at both ends.

The only awkward slot is early morning east coast. An 8am Sydney call is 3am here, and we will decline it rather than take it badly. Anything from about 11am your time onward is straightforward.

.com.au domains and the ABN requirement

Australian domains have eligibility rules that catch people out, and it is worth knowing before you plan a launch.

A .com.au or .net.au domain requires an Australian presence — normally an ABN, ACN or an Australian trade mark — and since the 2022 rule change the direct .au namespace has similar requirements. The registrant has to be the Australian entity. That means the domain must be registered in your name, not ours, and we could not hold it for you even if you wanted us to.

This is a good constraint rather than a bad one. Domain and hosting registered to the business, with the business holding the billing and the credentials, is exactly how it should be everywhere — Australia just enforces it. We set the accounts up in your name from the start and hand over every login at completion.

Privacy, spam rules and the practical compliance points

The Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles govern how a site handles personal information, and the reforms passing through since 2024 have raised both the expectations and the penalties. For a typical small business site the practical implications are modest but real: a privacy policy that describes what the site actually collects, form submissions retained deliberately rather than sitting in the database forever, and clarity about any third-party service that receives customer data.

The Spam Act 2003 is the one that catches marketing-minded businesses. It requires consent before commercial electronic messages, clear identification of the sender, and a working unsubscribe in every message. A newsletter checkbox that is pre-ticked, or a contact form that quietly adds people to a mailing list, is the exact pattern the Act exists to prevent. We wire forms and mailing list integrations so consent is explicit and separate from the enquiry itself.

Australian Consumer Law also applies to what your site claims. Prices displayed must be the total price including GST, and testimonials and guarantees on the page need to be real. We build the templates so GST-inclusive pricing is the default rather than something you have to remember.

Payment and how projects run

We invoice in Australian dollars, by bank transfer or Wise, with card payment available through an invoice link on smaller projects. We are not registered for Australian GST, so our invoices do not include it.

Projects run on a fixed written scope agreed before work starts — page count, revision allowance and explicit exclusions — with fifty percent up front and the balance on completion. Nobody has to argue about what “finished” means three weeks in.

Hosting and speed for Australian visitors

Australia is the market where hosting location matters most, because the distance to northern hemisphere data centres is enormous. A site hosted in the US can add several hundred milliseconds to every request for a Sydney visitor before a single image loads. On mobile, that is the difference between passing and failing Core Web Vitals.

For Australian clients we host in a Sydney region wherever possible, with a CDN in front so static assets are served locally. Where a build has been handed to us on offshore hosting, migrating it closer is usually the single cheapest speed improvement available — often worth more than every other optimisation combined.

What it costs

Pricing is quoted per project after a short discovery call. The things that genuinely move a quote are custom functionality, integrations such as booking systems or inventory feeds, ecommerce complexity, and whether your copy and photos are ready or we are building around placeholders. Page count matters far less than most people assume.

We are considerably cheaper than a comparable Melbourne or Sydney agency for the same standard of build, which is a consequence of where we live rather than what we leave out. Fully licensed Elementor Pro and licensed plugins on every project, and you own the lot at handover.

If you would rather hear it from an Australian business than from us, ask and we will introduce you to one of our Melbourne clients.

Frequently asked questions

What are your hours compared to Australian time?

Pakistan is UTC+5, so the east coast is five to six hours ahead of us depending on daylight saving, and Perth is three hours ahead. Our 9am to 6pm covers roughly 2pm to 11pm in Melbourne and Sydney. That means our working day sits across your afternoon, so comments you send after lunch are usually actioned before you finish for the day. Early morning east coast calls are the one thing we cannot do — 8am in Sydney is 3am here.

Can you register a .com.au domain for my business?

The domain has to be registered to you, not to us. Australian namespace rules require an Australian presence such as an ABN, ACN or Australian trade mark, and the registrant must be that Australian entity. We set the account up in your name, walk you through it, and hand over every credential at completion. That is how we do domains and hosting in every country anyway.

Do you have Australian clients I can speak to?

Yes. JB Complete Pool Care, Total Pets and Motorcycle Auctions Melbourne are all live sites we built, and all three left written reviews on our work page. Ask and we will arrange a direct introduction to one of them.

Will the site be fast for Australian visitors?

That depends on hosting rather than on who builds it. We host Australian client sites in a Sydney region with a CDN in front so static files are served locally. If your existing site is on US or European hosting, moving it closer is usually the biggest single speed improvement available to you.

Do you charge GST?

No. We are based in Pakistan and are not registered for Australian GST, so our invoices do not include it. We invoice in Australian dollars by bank transfer or Wise, and card payment is available on smaller projects.

How do you handle the Spam Act and privacy requirements?

Marketing consent is collected explicitly and kept separate from the enquiry itself, so submitting a contact form never silently subscribes someone. Unsubscribe links are working and sender identification is correct. Form data retention is configured deliberately rather than left indefinite, and the privacy policy describes what the site genuinely collects. We handle the technical implementation; the legal wording should be reviewed by your own advisers.
